The Nica Xavier Yoga Therapist project is based on the belief that balance is something that is built over time. Between body, breath and mind, Yoga is understood here as a practice of self-regulation and body awareness, capable of restoring the body’s natural harmony

Each session is an exercise in presence, where movement and breath become tools for stability, focus and lasting well-being.

Background and Training

Image
Nica Xavier has been dedicated to the field of health and well-being for over 25 years, through Yoga as well as other complementary techniques.

A Yoga practitioner since 2000, she completed her first training in India in 2010 at the School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma, where she deepened her understanding of the traditional foundations of the practice. In 2012, she completed her teacher training with Yoga Alliance UK, under the guidance of Marco Peralta.

Throughout her journey, she has also specialised in Ayurvedic massage, therapeutic massage, manual lymphatic drainage, massage therapy, Reiki and body rebalancing techniques. The combination of these skills led to an integrated therapeutic approach, using Yoga as the central axis and manual therapies as a complement to promote physical, mental and spiritual balance.

Therapeutic Approach

Nica Xavier’s methodology is based on the integration of different physical and energetic rebalancing techniques, aimed at prevention, recovery and stress management.

Each session is built through attentive observation of the body and an understanding of its needs, promoting an individualised and adaptive response.

The therapeutic process is shared between therapist and practitioner, a collaborative work of awareness, adjustment and progression, respecting each person’s rhythm and encouraging gradual and consistent body awareness.

Yoga

The term Yoga comes from the Sanskrit yuj, meaning to unite or integrate. This practice seeks to harmonise body, mind and breath through four fundamental components:
asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breath control), meditation and concentration, and ethical principles and personal discipline (yamas and niyamas).

More than physical exercise, Yoga is a practice of regulation and balance. Through controlled breathing techniques, it is possible to induce a state of calm and stability, reducing the effects of stress and anxiety, while promoting physical, mental and spiritual balance.

Recognised benefits include:

  • - Improved posture and mobility
  • - Increased strength and flexibility
  • - Reduction of stress, anxiety and insomnia
  • - Enhanced concentration and mental clarity
  • - Strengthening of the immune system

Yoga is therefore a complete discipline that promotes health, self-awareness and overall well-being.

Aerial Yoga

Image
A practice where yoga postures are performed with the support of a fabric, allowing for deeper engagement in each posture. Suspension in the air creates a sense of lightness and freedom, bringing mental benefits such as reduced stress and anxiety.

This practice helps strengthen muscles, increases endurance, flexibility and balance. It engages the entire body, strengthens the core and improves mobility and range of motion.

Suspension relieves pressure on the spine and joints, helping reduce pain and improve posture.

Inversions support venous return and lymphatic drainage.

Complementary Techniques

In addition to Yoga, Nica Xavier integrates complementary techniques into her practice that support physical balance and relieve both physical and mental tension.

Care Philosophy

Image
Nica Xavier’s work is grounded in attentive observation and respect for individual rhythms. Each intervention, whether a Yoga class or a complementary therapy session, is built collaboratively, adapting to the specific needs and conditions of each person.

This approach values an ongoing process of care, where the body is the starting point and regular practice becomes the path to achieving balance, vitality and sustained well-being
